Tyler Kidd is turning 11 in September and has loved every sport he has ever played and has excelled as soon as he stepped on the field, ice, or the course over his 10 years. Also known as “The Kidd” he played his first season of FunTeam Hockey in Winfield this past winter. His friend’s dad was the one running the group so they wanted to give it a shot.
He loved seeing his skills progress as the season went on especially when he worked on his speed with circle crossover drills and fun games. His favourite memory to date was playing against Sylvan Lake and with five seconds left he had a chance to win the game and he hit the post!
But when the winter comes to an end and the snow melts you’ll find Tyler on the golf course. And it doesn’t matter which golf course it is there’s a good chance he’s going to be shooting some great scores! Just this past year he started shooting in the 80’s and twice broke 80 shooting 79 in a tournament in Innisfail, Alberta there and then a 78 on the first day of the FCG Callaway World Championship on a course he never played before. Did we mention that he’s 10?!
He’s a regular player (and winner) on the Alberta Golf Tour, he went on to finish 15th at the previously mentioned World Championships and was the top ranked Canadian in his age division, and has recently qualified for the second leg of qualifying for the Drive Chip and Putt Championships at Augusta National. Yes, that place where the Masters is held.
We are so proud of our FunTeam members and all that they are able to achieve. It looks like Tyler is bound for great success so take a second to wish him all the best with the second leg of the Drive, Chip, and Putt Championships! Thank you to Tyler and his family for taking the time to answer a few of our questions and commenting on your FunTeam experience.
